Humphead glassfish may be schooling fish in the wild, but under aquarium conditions they tend to be aggressive towards one another. Smaller fish such as guppies, danios and Neons will quite likely be viewed as tasty food! That same sad fate may befall small shrimps such as Cherry and Amano. At least some well-adjusted specimens take flake, but at the very least this food should be supplemented with additions such as chopped squid and prawn.Īll glassfish are opportunistic predators and the Humphead has a deceptively large mouth. Once settled in, they generally take frozen foods such as bloodworms without any complaint. Small fish will also consume Daphnia and brineshrimp. Earthworms and river shrimps are particularly favoured, though midge and mosquito larvae are also readily enjoyed. At least during the initial stages, live and frozen foods will need to be used while settling these wild-caught fish into captive life. Like all glassfish, Humpheads are fussy feeders. On the other hand, higher temperatures will reduce the amount of oxygen in the water, so that condition would be something to avoid wherever possible. Water temperature doesn’t appear to be critical for these fish and they do perfectly well at the usual 25C/77F favoured by most fishkeepers. So for a 200 l/44 gal aquarium, the filter needs to be rated at 1,600 lph. Ideally the filter should provide a turnover rate around eight times the volume of the tank per hour. To ensure the water is well oxygenated, ensure the tank is not overstocked, and install a filter that keeps the water moving vigorously. Keep nitrates low by performing regular water changes, preferably keeping the nitrate concentration below 20 mg/l. Fish from fastwater habitats invariably do badly in nitrate-rich, oxygen-poor water. What matters more is water quality, particularly oxygen concentration. Unlike some glassfish in the trade, these are strictly freshwater fish and shouldn’t be kept in a brackish water aquarium. The Salween, for example, is mostly a slightly soft and acidic body of water, much like other South-East Asian rivers, but Humphead glassfish also seem to do perfectly well in the hard, alkaline water of southern England. Little is known about their diet in the wild but, by analogy with other freshwater glassfish, it can be assumed that they are opportunistic predators feeding on such as shrimps, aquatic insect larvae and small fish.ĭespite their delicate appearance, glassfish are surprisingly adaptable, and the Humphead is no exception. They appear to occupy a similar niche to our native trout species, maintaining position in currents that flow around rocks and riffles, snapping up small animals that drift by. In all cases, these fish are found in clear, shallow, fast-flowing streams. It is assumed that Humphead glassfish occur in a number of other streams and rivers in this area, though this isn’t certain.Īt least some specimens that turn up in the ornamental fish trade appear to come from the Salween river on the Myanmar-Thai border. When Maurice Kottelat described these fish just six years ago, he based his work on specimens collected from the Ataran river basin in Myanmar, formerly Burma. Basic coloration is otherwise silvery-white, except for smoky-grey markings on face and fins. They are not as transparent as some other glassfish species, but have a rather beautiful golden sheen that immediately catches the eye. Both sexes have these humps, though those on mature males are larger.Īpart from these distinctive humps, Parambassis pulcinella conform, in most regards, to the usual glassfish shape. Unlike the humps on cichlids, the shape on these glassfish is thin - resembling more of a fin than anything else. It is generally much like any other glassfish, but is always distinguished by that large nuchal hump! Choose tankmates with care, warns Dr Neale Monks.ĭescribed as recently as 2003, the Humphead glassfish has quickly become one of the more familiar members of the family Ambassidae. Easily distinguished from other glassfish, the Humphead has qualities but also attitude. so i took the advice above and brought in the 1.5 hour mp3 file into a new project in s1. I've actually never mastered in S1 before. i just want to chop the original up into pieces. by this i mean i don't want to remix or master or do any kind of audio processing. i don't really want to edit it other than to just place named markers so that i can easily split the original audio file into individual and separate audio files. i've got a similar situation = long 1.5 hour take. You have no idea how much I appreciate a nudge in the right direction. Thank you so very much, in advance, for your patience and help. I have already promised to record the next showcase, and my instructor would like me to record his band in a live venue using the mains out of the board.SO that will be my next project. I still do not understand the relationship to the VSL and Studio one. However I actively monitored all levels the entire duration of the event, and both myself and my instructor loved the resulting outcome when playing back the RAW recording.Īlso, one other question. What is the best way to record live events with the Audiobox 44VSL.I did it in Studio One, but it certainly isn't a "Song" rather a collection of Songs. If there is a better method given the hardware I have I am all open to any method that would make it easier, better or superior. I apologize in advance if this is to "Newbie" for all of you, but we all need to start somewhere and I am now hopelessly hooked on recording. I havent had much luck searching for helpful videos. I have tried using markers.but when I deleted the space between the first part and the next, it just plays back as dead air. That's as far as I got. Put it on a CD to distribute to the students (SIC) Need to delete the dead air or miscellaneous sounds between songsĥ. Need to Identify the start and end of each song.Ģ. What is the best way to do this? I have been playing around but so far cannot figure it out on my own.ġ. I would also like to be able to put info into each track with Players name and song. I would like to delete the space between players (students playing their songs), and essentially put the unmodified recording on a cd, broken up into tracks so each player and "track forward" to their song, or listen to everyone elses. The overall sound came out fantastic, that said, I now have two hour long sessions as 1 song each. I recorded the entire event into Studio One Pro using the Audiobox 44VSL and three Mic's. Over the weekend I offered to record a Guitar Showcase my instructor put's on. Just use this area for resources to help build yourself up. There probably isn't much in this area, but the area with the gas is very near the enemy base. You can use cloaked Wraiths again to scout the eastern edge of the map You can find a mineral deposit and some Vespene Gas. This is not a terrible place to wage your final strike from, but we'll walk you through more expansion for those who want to be more conservative. This area won't come under heavy fire, but you will see an occasional attack or two. You'll probably want to build a factory and/or Spaceport, too, so you don't have to import all your defenses. Set up another Command Center and a Refinery. You can start building immediately, but send a couple Siege Tanks in to clean out the Missile Turrets and the rest of the buildings in the area. Once this area is clear, the base will be a lame duck. Attack the Factory nearby, the Refinery, and Barracks a bit to the North, and then clean up ground units (prioritizing SCVs so they can't rebuild). With this eliminated, they will no longer be able to use scanner sweeps, and you'll be free to attack with impunity as long as you stay out of range of the Missile Turrets. Your first target should be the ComSat station on the Command Center. There are Missile Turrets around, so be careful, but there is a great deal of damage you can do, while cloaked, and the enemy will be defenseless. Fly all the way west and then north along the west wall. Once you feel like your defense has stabled out, amass a fairly large number of Wraiths (a dozen or so should make it easy), and wait for their energy to fill up so they can stay cloaked. The enemy will be using cloaked units, so use Scanner Sweeps from your ComSat station until you're able to construct a couple of Science Vessels (these units expose cloaked enemies within range. Siege Tanks in Siege mode will help a great deal, and you can sometimes use cloaked Wraiths to disperse attacks before they arrive. The enemy will send very large waves of enemies at you, especially the Confederate forces in the northeast. Make sure you research cloaking tech for your Wraiths, and you'll probably want to for your Covert Ops as well so you can use nukes (requires a Command Center with a silo, which means a second one).ĭefense is tricky. Build one of everything, and make sure you have a Control Tower on your Starport, a ComSat on your Command Center, a Machine Shop on your Factory, and a Covert Ops on your Science Center. You'll want to build three or four bunkers guarding the northeastern approach and at least two on the other side as well. Initially, you'll need to build up a very strong defense at your base in the south. The rest of this walkthrough will take you through dominating the map, but you can cut it short and skip to the last section whenever you feel you can manage it. Remember you can do this at any time you have the opportunity, and if you're feeling lucky, you can get away with it early. If you can get to it with a half dozen Siege Tanks and a few Goliaths, you stand a good chance of taking it out, but getting there can be difficult without dominating a sizable chunk of the map. It doesn't, however, have production facilities or even a great deal of vehicular defense. This structure is on an island, surrounded by Missile Turrets that make it hard to approach from the air. Your goal is the Ion Cannon marked on your map in the north. This can be a difficult fight, and it can get very drawn out if you let it. The Jesters’ bylaws do not exclude women or minorities. Everyone is white male, there are no African Americans, no females, no Latinos. “Here we have a secret society organization that was founded right after the 1921 race riot. Lewis said the group is concerned that the state’s top financial officer “is a part of a secret society and they have to take an oath.” The Jesters handbook includes the group’s pledge: “What I see here, what I hear here, shall stay here when I leave here” and a creed that says members “must also be a gentleman even when the wine flows in.” The group’s Tulsa “court” has about 150 members, and in the roster, all are white men. However, the Oklahoma chapters have not been linked to such activities.ĭoerflinger, the state’s top budget officer, has come under fire recently for his handling of the state budget, comments about education funding and an alcohol-related arrest last year. Outside of Oklahoma, the Royal Order of Jesters has been involved in controversies including allegations of sex tourism with underage girls during fishing trips in Brazil and parties featuring prostitutes in several states. He says he stopped paying dues in the group last year and is no longer active. Album standouts include the hypnotic “Arnaq” and sonorous “Don’t Make Me Blue,” while its title track emerges as this bittersweet introspection on Elisapie’s own journey. But The Ballad of the Runaway Girl finds her pining for a reconnection. It was after she was adopted that she grew up in Salluit and thought only of heading south to Montreal, where she eventually arrived to start a family. It also addresses her own complicated arrival in reconnecting with Inuit culture, her adoption as a child on a tarmac of an airport, and the trials of being an Indigenous woman. This is the goal of her most recent album The Ballad of the Runaway Girl, a quieting exploration of the northern world and the roots there she feels separated from and yearns for.
